Open House 2026
From Girls to Women of Grace & Substance
Our CHIJ (Katong) Primary Open House on 25 May 2026 was truly a beautiful reflection of the IJ spirit; a morning filled with warmth, joy and community.
Inspired by the words of Blessed Nicolas Barré, “Do all through love, nothing through constraint,” families experienced firsthand the caring and Christ-centred environment that makes CHIJ (Katong) Primary so special.
The morning began with interactive booths, parent volunteer showcases and a graceful ballet performance by Olivia Quinn. This was followed by an inspiring address by our Principal, Mrs Mischa Simon, who shared not only the school’s programmes and opportunities, but also what it means to be a CHIJ KCP girl rooted in Truth, Justice, Freedom and Love.
Heartfelt sharing by CPC Chairperson Stephanie Tham and Parent Volunteer Geraldine Wan highlighted the strong partnership between home and school.
One of the most meaningful moments was the classroom experience with our P1 and P2 girls, whose warmth and natural friendliness made many of the younger children feel immediately at home. Parents also enjoyed interactive school tours led by our IJ Ambassadors, chapel performances including An Irish Blessing beautifully sung by Nicole Cahill, and a delightful drama performance in the library.
Many parents shared how deeply touched they were by the family atmosphere, joyful learning environment and strong values-centred culture present throughout the school.
The morning was a beautiful reminder that at CHIJ (Katong) Primary, education goes beyond the classroom and it is about nurturing every child in faith, love and community, where each girl is known, valued and inspired to grow into a Woman of Grace & Substance.
Here are what some parent attendees had to say:
Informative and insightful – Frankie Tsang
Well-organised and wonderful positive vibes – Hazel Toh
Assuring to know that the school is very focused on values – Brenda
Our heartfelt appreciation to all staff, parent volunteers and volunteers and student ambassadors whose dedication and partnership made the Open House such a wonderful celebration of the CHIJ spirit.
