Information & Communications Technology (ICT)
Confident Learners. Responsible Digital Citizens. Creative Problem Solvers.
Nurturing students to use technology with confidence, discernment and purpose, our ICT programme equips our girls with essential digital skills and competencies, as well as the values and dispositions needed to grow into young women of substance in a digital age.
Confident Learners – Growing in Capacity and Character
Confidence in learning stems from an awareness of one’s abilities and a willingness to embrace new challenges. As confident learners in a technology‑enabled environment, IJ students develop the competence to navigate ICT tools, adapt to emerging technologies and take ownership of their learning.
Guided instruction and purposeful practice enable students to:
-
Use ICT tools effectively to support learning
-
Approach new technologies with curiosity and assurance
-
Develop independence and self‑directed learning habits
This confidence reflects the school’s emphasis on grace, where students are supported, encouraged and guided to grow steadily in capability and courage.
Responsible Digital Citizens – Growing in Discernment and Integrity
Responsibility in learning is rooted in strong values and thoughtful decision‑making. As responsible citizens in a connected world, IJ students learn to use technology ethically, safely and respectfully, understanding that their actions have impact on themselves and others.
Through explicit instruction and applied learning experiences, students are guided to:
-
Exercise discernment in their use of ICT and media
-
Practise safe, respectful and ethical online behaviour
-
Take responsibility for their choices and interactions
This sense of responsibility reflects the school’s emphasis on integrity and respect, nurturing students who live out their values consistently in both physical and virtual spaces.
Creative Problem Solvers – Growing in Thinking and Resilience
Creative problem‑solving involves curiosity, perseverance and the willingness to learn from challenges. As creative problem solvers, IJ students are encouraged to use technology purposefully to explore ideas, solve problems and create meaningful, innovative solutions.
Through hands‑on ICT experiences, students learn to:
-
Apply logical reasoning and critical thinking strategies
-
Break problems into manageable steps and explore multiple solutions
-
Collaborate, reflect and persist through challenges
These experiences nurture resilient and creative thinkers, equipping students with the confidence to apply their learning thoughtfully and purposefully in a rapidly changing world.
